Creating a windows boot up cd for formatting my windows or repair the os was an often task i did during my teenage. Those times it was so easy to get a bootable cd and get the task done. When devices became slimmer cd drives became extinct.
Now a days popular and cheap usb drives paved way for the bootable disks to be on the same. The trouble i encountered today is i was having a windows machine and a mac air. The windows system stopped working after a power failure and was asking for a bootable windows disk, unfortunately both of my system doesn’t have optical drives.
You can create a windows bootable disk from mac osx without any additional software required. You can make use of the Boot Camp Assistant from Mac OSX to do the same, being told you may require your windows version ISO image.
How to get the windows ISO image?.
ISO images from windows 7 to 10 is available on Microsoft website. Click here to follow to the software download page.
Note: Select the appropriate version and your language to download the ISO file. This may take a little time that too again dependent on your Internet Connection
Open the Boot Camp assistant.
Insert your usb drive and click continue.
Select your windows ISO file and destination disk (USB DRIVE ) will show up right below that.
Then click continue to start creating the boot sector on your usb drive and copy the windows files from the ISO disk image to the USB drive.
All Good! Once this finishes you can use your usb drive as a bootable usb for installing and repairing your windows machines, Do not forget to enable usb booting on your BIOS settings on your windows machine to get it working !.
