Cyanogen will no longer build its Android fork.

Today My morning started with a bad news from the tech world. One of the largest Android custom build series Cyanogen has stopped building its Android forked os.  Android Phones like Alcatel, Wileyfox, BQ, Yu, ZUK and OnePlus is gonna get affected with this. These phones were using cyanogen android on their mobiles in a wide range of models.

Cyanogen will now focus on a Modular OS. The company describes the os will give “greater freedom and opportunity to introduce intelligent, customisable Android smartphones using different parts of the Cyanogen OS via dynamic modules and MODs, with the ROM of their choice, whether stock Android or their own variant.”

Announcing a new Cyanogen Modular OS program, company said, It is designed to achieve the original objective of an open and smarter Android without the limitations of requiring the full Cyanogen OS stack and individual device bring-ups.

The decision is followed on the organisational structure change on top executives. Co-founder Kirt McMaster’s changed his role from CEO to Executive Chairman and COO Lior Tal will take McMaster’s position. The company is hopeful that device makers who don’t want to pay full price for Cyanogen OS will at least want some of the tools and features it offers, including its ‘expanding Artificial Intelligence cloud services, which learn usage patterns throughout the operating system and introduce smarter and more effective ways to resolve intent and interact with smartphones in a personalised and highly contextual way.’

Now there is a question what will happen to the OnePlus , Yu Android updates?? Share your thoughts.
